SAN DIEGO -- A driver slammed into the back of a pickup truck overnight, making a major mess for drivers in the South Bay.
Police say a woman was driving a blue SUV when she rear-ended a truck at Palm Avenue and Saturn Boulevard in Egger Highlands. Her SUV flew off the side of Palm Avenue and crashed into a fence below. The truck she hit was left crumpled.
When officers arrived, they saw the woman scooping up her belongings as though she was going to bolt from the scene. Police say she fought with them before being arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The person she hit ended up with a broken neck, according to police, and was transported to a hospital.
The woman who hit the truck is facing felony DUI.
Palm Avenue was expected to be shut down for several hours Thursday morning while police investigate. TRAFFIC MAP
