IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. – A juvenile who allegedly threatened to hurt himself at Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach prompted a temporary lockdown Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The boy was in the bathroom making threats that he was going to hurt himself. Other students who heard him alerted staff. The principal went into the bathroom to speak to the boy, who refused to come out.

Deputies were called to the school. The boy was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital. He was not injured. Initial reports that the boy had stabbed himself were unfounded.
