Stolen car chase ends with crash, driver caught

CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- A man suspected crashing a stolen car during a police pursuit in Chula Vista late Wednesday night was captured by a K-9 unit. 
 
At around 10:30 p.m., San Diego police in the South Bay area spotted a Honda Civic that had been reported stolen. When officers attempted to stop the car, a chase ensued. The car made its way onto Interstate 5 north and then exited at Palomar Street. It wound its way through Chula Vista before crashing into a guardrail at Anita Street and Frontage Road.  
 
The driver jumped out of the car and ran away. Just after 11 p.m., the suspect was found hiding in some bushes by a San Diego police K-9 unit and was apprehended. 
 
The suspect’s name and the charges he faces were not immediately confirmed.
