A sprinter rail car hit a small pickup truck that was abandoned on its tracks Sunday morning in the pre-dawn darkness in Vista, but no one was injured, according to authorities.
The commuter train was traveling westbound from Escondido to Oceanside shortly after 4:30 a.m., when it hit the truck in the vicinity of South Santa Fe Avenue and York Drive, according to Sheriff Sgt. Jason King.
Sprinter service was back up and running on time and the sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit was investigating the collision, King said in a statement.
