UPDATE (Dec. 13, 2016): San Diego police said Rosa Castellanos was located in Tijuana early Tuesday morning and is safe. No other details were given.

A local family is making a desperate plea for help to find 66-year-old Rosa Vargas Castellanos.

She has Alzheimer’s disease.

Araceli Arevalos is one of her seven children.

"It's like our hands are tied, and all we need is help."

She was last seen in her home by Dennery Road and Del Sol on Friday.

Virginia Loza, who is also her daughter, has been worried sick.

"They were both watching TV, and my Dad dozed off for a little bit. When he woke up, she was gone," Loza explained.

She said her mom left without a purse, ID or cell phone. She only had what she was wearing.

"She has a light sweater," Arevalos said. "She's always cold."

They have been searching and posting flyers the past two days in San Ysidro.

They have especially focused on an area near the Beyer trolley station. They said she lived in the apartments next to it for more than 20 years ago and thinks she still lives there.

"Yesterday they were looking in trash cans because they were afraid someone might have done something to her," Arevalos said through tears.

She is known for picking flowers for strangers.

"We're afraid that something might have happened to her because she's such a friendly woman that she will accept a ride from anyone," Arevalos added.

Rosa is 5'1" and she was last seen wearing a brown v-neck, a beige sweater, brown leggings and black slip-on shoes.

“If anyone has seen her please contact the police or the numbers that are on the flyer. We would really appreciate it," Arevalos said with tears streaming down her face. "We want our mom to come home."
