SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An argument on social media escalated into a face-to-face confrontation that turned violent in a Southcrest neighborhood Thursday night.

San Diego police responded just after 10 p.m. to reports of a woman stabbed multiple times near a house in the 1000 block of S. 36th Street.

According to police, the female victim and the suspected attacker -- also female -- met in person near the home after they apparently exchanged words on a social media network.

The meetup turned into a physical altercation in which one of the women was stabbed at least six times, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't believed to be serious. Another woman was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.

The suspected attacker was being detained for questioning, 10News learned.
