Shots fired in La Mesa home, man arrested after standoff

LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - Gunfire in a La Mesa home led to a lengthy standoff that concluded with two arrests.

According to La Mesa police, an argument between two male roommates escalated at about 10:40 p.m. Monday when one of the men fired four to five rounds from an assault rifle inside the house in the 4100 block of Blackton Dr.

Several of the home's occupants fled the house, and when officers arrived, the armed man barricaded himself inside. Over the next few hours, the man refused to comply with SWAT officers' orders to surrender.

Just after 3:30 a.m., the man finally emerged from the home and was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

One of the home's occupants was arrested for public intoxication, police told 10News.

No one was injured in the incident.
