RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - It’s a constant question during the summer heat: turn the air conditioning on or keep it off to save money?

For the owners of the Ramona Family Natural Market, there is only one answer.

“If you turn the AC off, the other refrigeration cannot keep up. It will shut down and we will lose product,” said Robert Bradley, co-owner of the store.

They have to keep the refrigerator and AC running 24/7 during the hot summer months he says.

This year has been particularly tough on their electric bill. He estimates that their electric bill last summer was around $6,000 per month. But this past June, the bill reached nearly $9,000. July could be worse.

“It’s a big chunk of change,” said Bradley. “More than our rent.”
