SAN DIEGO – A pair of San Diego police officers suffered minor injuries while chasing a driver on foot through a neighborhood in Clairemont after he allegedly crashed into some parked cars early Tuesday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m., San Diego police responded to a 911 call about a man who had struck several parked cars in the 3500 block of Mount Everest Boulevard.

Responding officers located the suspect and attempted to take him into custody, but he tried to escape through the backyard of a home. The officers eventually caught him, but not before sustaining minor injuries.

They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear how they sustained the injuries. The extent of the damage in the crash was not confirmed.

Police said the man, who was not identified, will be charged with drunken driving charges.
