San Diego County's population grew by 0.8 percent in 2015 to almost 3.3 million residents, the state Department of Finance reported Monday.
In the agency's annual state population estimates, San Diego County's population was put at 3,288,612 as of Jan. 1.
The city of San Diego added about 12,000 people for a tally of 1,391,676 residents, according to the data.
Population for other major local cities include: Chula Vista, 265,070; Oceanside, 175,948; Escondido, 150,760; Carlsbad, 112,930; and El Cajon, 102,337. Of those cities, Carlsbad had the highest growth rate at 0.9 percent.
The statewide growth rate was also 0.9 percent last year, with an addition of 348,000 residents, bringing California's population to 39,256,000, according to the agency's data.
The Department of Finance reported that growth was evenly distributed around the state, with most cities and counties experiencing increases in population. The state's largest city, Los Angeles, gained 50,000 people last year to nudge over the 4 million mark, at 4.03 million.
The rest of the state's 10 largest cities on Jan. 1 were, in order:
