Early Wednesday California Highway Patrol announced an emergency road closure at a busy freeway transition on Interstate 805 south to last through the early evening hours on Wednesday.
Caltrans maintenance crews closed the southbound I-805 connector to eastbound state Route 52 Wednesday afternoon. Just before 6 p.m. the closure was lifted and all lanes were reopened.
Caltrans said the closure was requested to make temporary repairs to a deteriorated bridge expansion joint.
CHP suggested the following alternate routes for commuters:
- Southbound I-5 to Eastbound SR-52
- Eastbound SR-56 to Southbound I-15 to SR-52
Motorists on southbound I-805 were directed to exit at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard east, then take northbound I-805 to eastbound SR-52.
