SAN DIEGO – Amid heightened tension following the presidential election, U.S. Representative Scott Peters (D- San Diego) claims that a friend of his was attacked based on her race.
In a tweet sent out Friday morning, Peters stated that a Filipina friend and her mother were driving when their car was egged. The suspect then allegedly yelled at them to “go home.” Peters said his friend’s mother is a Navy widow.

Peters, who represents the 52nd District, did no expand on when or where the alleged attack occurred.
In Tuesday’s General Election, Peters easily defeated Republican challenger Denise Gitsham, garnering 57 percent of the vote to earn a third term in Congress.
