SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The wife of a San Diego man who was severely injured in a boating accident is sharing a safety message.
Ron Schoors was boating on San Diego Bay when a strong wave knocked him into the water. His empty boat spun out of control and ran over him.
Doctors had to amputate Schoors' right arm, his wife Gerrie told 10News. Schoors has a broken leg and is also suffering from kidney failure, Gerrie said.

Gerrie Schoors said she'd like to pass on the message that boaters shouldn't go out on the water alone.
A GoFundMe page is set up to help the Schoors pay for medical bills.
