SD gas price drops to lowest since May 2009

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Saturday to its lowest amount since May 8, 2009, $2.413, thanks to the largest daily decrease since Aug. 8, 3.2 cents.

The average price has dropped 44 of the past 45 days, decreasing 65 cents, including 2.5 cents on Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 12.9 cents less than one week ago, 46.3 cents lower than one month ago and 49.6 cents below what it was one year ago.

The average price decreased for 24 consecutive days, was unchanged Jan. 31, then resumed dropping Feb. 1.
