SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - A man was hospitalized and another was taken into custody following a shooting in a Santee neighborhood that stemmed from an apparent disagreement between neighbors.

The gunfire erupted at about 11:30 a.m. in an apartment at a complex in the 9800 block of Shirley Gardens Drive, according to sheriff's officials.

Details on what led to the shooting were not immediately disclosed, but sheriff's officials said they believe the shooting happened following an argument between two men. Officials confirmed one man was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The victim, who residents say is well-known in the neighborhood, is expected to survive his injuries.

The suspected shooter, identified as 53-year-old Grady Neel, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies confiscated several weapons from Neel's apartment.

No other injuries were reported.
