OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Authorities reached out to the public today for help in identifying the killer or killers who gunned down a teenage girl at an Oceanside park over the Labor Day weekend.
Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire found Annebell Flores, 15, mortally wounded in a playground at Joe Balderrama Park on San Diego Street about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the girl was specifically targeted and that bystanders likely witnessed the possible gang shooting, Oceanside police spokesman Ryan Keim said.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
