ESCONDIDO, CALIF., (KGTV) - California Republicans are ramping up their efforts as the June 5 primary approaches.

Two GOP candidates endorsed by President Trump stumped in Escondido Friday.

Candidate for Governor John Cox and Attorney General hopeful Judge Steven Bailey spoke at the Repeal the California Gas Tax Headquarters.

California has not elected a Republican A.G. in nearly two decades. Democrat Xavier Beccera currently holds the office.

New polls by UC Berkeley have John Cox in second behind Democratic favorite Gavin Newsom — several Democrats trail Cox.

Tuesday’s top two finishers move on to go head-to-head in the November election regardless of political affiliation.
