What's happening in the political world:
Obama said to be "irked" by Trump's wiretapping accusations
-- Sources told CNN that former President Obama was irked and exasperated after learning about President Trump's wiretapping claims. In response, an Obama spokesman said that "neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any US citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false."
Trump's budget proposal calls for Coast Guard cuts
-- A $1.3 billion cut to the U.S. Coast Guard would be included in the president's budget plan, sources told CNN. Two sources familiar with the administration's FY2018 budget request told CNN the plan is to boost the Department of Homeland Security's total budget by 6%, up to $43.8 billion. That increase would primarily go to border security and would be paid for with the Coast Guard cuts and reductions to other agencies.
Nuts and bolts of GOP's Obamacare replacement
-- House Republicans revealed its plan to repeal and replace major portions of the Affordable Care Act on Monday. While the bill will likely change a lot before it lands on President Trump's desk, it's already possible to see whom the winners and losers in the individual market and Medicaid could be.
GOP lawmaker says Americans have to decide between health care and iPhones
-- In a CNN interview, Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz said that under the replacement plan for Obamacare, low-income Americans will need to "make a choice" when it comes to their health coverage.
"Americans have choices, and they've got to make a choice. So rather than getting that new iPhone that they just love and want to go spend hundreds of dollars on that, maybe they should invest in their own health care," Chaffetz said.
