RANCHO PENASQUITOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Police arrested a man in connection with a brazen midday home invasion in Rancho Penasquitos Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. at multiple homes in the 14000 block of Del Diablo Lane, across from the Black Mountain Open Space Park, San Diego police said.

According to police, at the first home, a mother and her daughter were upstairs when the suspect, identified Tuesday as 34-year-old Jonathan Romero Miranda, broke into the house through the window.

Police said Miranda fled the home with a laptop but dropped it on the sidewalk as he was leaving. He also left his wallet behind.

From the first home, he went up the street to Penasquitos Drive, where he got into a second home through the back door. Once inside, he confronted a woman and demanded money. A friend of the woman who was visiting at the time said Miranda allegedly threatened both residents before running from the house.

Responding officers located Miranda and took him into custody. Police said the residents of both homes were OK after the home invasions.

Miranda was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of burglary, robbery, making criminal threats, being under the influence of a controlled substances and possessing unlawful drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $100,000 bond pending arraignment, set for Wednesday.
