Police step up presence at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista after Snapchat threat

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - There will be an increased police presence at Eastlake High School Thursday morning after a threat was made against the school on social media.

Sweetwater Union High School District officials confirmed someone posted a photo of Eastlake High on Snapchat Wednesday with this message: "This school is gone tomorrow ima make all the kool kids Pay."

District officials said police were notified of the threat and a letter was sent to parents to inform them as well.

According to district officials, the threat did not appear to be credible and the student linked to the posting was identified and contacted.

Extra officers will be assigned to the school as a precaution.
