SAN DIEGO – Police are actively searching for two suspects who ripped more than 20 bullets from an AK-47 style assault rifle into the walls and windows of a City Heights apartment Tuesday night.

The shooting occurred at about 10:30 p.m. in the Pacific Cove Apartments in the 4000 block of 51st Street. At least four people were having dinner inside an apartment when it was hit with a hail of gunfire. Two dogs were also in the unit. Everyone ducked to the floor as bullets cut through the living room and kitchen.

No one was hurt.

San Diego police told 10News the shooters were described as two suspects in a white-colored SUV. The vehicle fled the scene and has not been located.

Officers found more than 20 shell casings on the ground outside the complex. Investigators are unclear why that particular unit was targeted.
