A man who was wanted on a warrant and kept police at bay in a 14-hour standoff while holed up in an Oak Park home was taken into custody Friday, the San Diego Police Department said.
The unidentified suspect surrendered without incident around 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Pentecost Way, near Euclid Avenue and State Route 94.
The incident began shortly before 9 a.m., about an hour before the man took his position in the home, when police received a report that a mother and her adult son were arguing at that residence, police said.
The woman soon left, complaining of a panic attack, but her son refused to exit the home and speak with patrol personnel, according to Officer Frank Cali of the San Diego Police Department.
Crisis counselors were called in to try to reason with the man, who made threats to kill himself but police said no one was injured.
