San Diego police are warning the public after a young girl was assaulted on Sunset Cliffs.
Police told 10News the incident occurred on the morning of May 8, and the girl had come to the cliffs with the man suspected of attacking her.
According to police, the area is considered a hot spot for teens to hang out after dark. Lt. Paul Phillips from the SDPD's Sex Crimes Unit explained with proms across San Diego starting this weekend, they say the area will only get busier.
Phillips suggests parents have conversations with their high schoolers about the risks involved. They hope more dialogue between parents and teens will help prevent attacks in the future.
Police told 10News the attack was considered an isolated incident, but they are still working on the case.
Police are still interviewing people who were in the area when it happened.
