CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A missing elderly man who is new to the area and in need of his medications was found Wednesday morning after he had disappeared 24 hours earlier.

According to police, 79-year-old Maximo Rangel-Lopez was last seen Tuesday at about 7 a.m. as he "went for his daily routine of collecting cans" to recycle.

Rangel-Lopez suffers from Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure and prostate problems. He has beginning signs of cognitive issues, and police said he had not taken his medications since Tuesday morning.

Police said Rangel-Lopez has only lived in Chula Vista for about two months and is not familiar with the city.
