PHOENIX, Ariz. (KNXV) - A miniature poodle was saved by an unlikely hero and now the two are best of friends.
Ashleigh Goebel, with the Arizona Humane Society, said Roxie was anemic and infested with ticks when she arrived at their facility.
As Roxie lay on the exam table, a quick-moving veterinarian called upon Tank, an 83-pound American Pit Bull Terrier to become Roxie's blood donor.
Goebel said by the end of the night, Roxie was able to stand on all four paws, and was beginning to recover.
Over the next two days, Tank stayed by Roxie's side and the two even got to enjoy visits during Roxie's recovery. The pair now go on walks together.
"The once-lifeless poodle is now bustling with energy and spunk," Goebel said of Roxie.
Roxie is headed to a foster home to continue her recovery, but Tank is available for adoption at the Arizona Humane Society.
