(KGTV) - A petition has been started to try and convince Costco to reverse course on getting rid of their polish hot dog option at food courts.

The Care2 petition has already collected more than 3,000 signatures in its quest to change the company's decision.

This month Costco announced it was ditching the offering to make room for healthier options on its menu, including an açai fruit bowl, organic burger, and a plant-based protein salad.

"The $1.50 Polish dog/soda combo was a hit with me and my friends, and it has been one of my favorite guilty pleasures ever since," the petition says. "I think Costco's decision to include more health-conscious [sp] items is a great idea. But do they have to get rid of the Polish dog?"

The petition has a goal of collecting 10,000 signatures. It's not clear whether it could ultimately prompt Costco to keep the menu item.
