ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The girlfriend of a man found stabbed to death inside an Escondido home was arrested Friday in connection with the murder.
Alda Garcia, 35, is facing one count of murder and one count of inflicting injury on a spouse/cohabitant. She has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
Officers responded to the home - located in the 2200 block of East Lincoln Avenue -- on a report of a dispute between and man and his girlfriend.
“It was actually a family member who called on her behalf saying that there's some sort of argument going on between the boyfriend and the girlfriend and that's what prompted us to respond to the call," Escondido Police Lt. Ed Varso said.
Officers arrived to find the victim in a back bedroom with multiple stab wounds. Escondido Fire Department crews rushed him by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Varso told 10News that the victim’s girlfriend and another male were standing outside the home when officers arrived on scene. However, the family member who phoned 911 on her behalf did not do so from the home in question.
It was not immediately clear how many people were inside the home at the time of the crime.
The area has multiple duplexes and detectives were also conducting interviews with neighbors, Varso said.
"There's been multiple issues over there, a lot of sketchiness around there, I have seen the police there quite a number of times," a neighbor told 10News.
The victim has not yet been identified pending notification of family.
