NATIONAL CITY (KGTV) -- Police investigators are seeking the public's help identifying a person of interest in the killing of an elderly National City woman.
The incident was reported Saturday at around 6 a.m., a woman called National City Police Department after finding her mother deceased in their residence.
Responding officers located the victim, Maria Rivera, 92, deceased inside her home located at 1111 D Avenue. Police did not say how she killed or if a weapon was used.
"Upon further investigation at the scene, Officers located evidence indicating the residence was burglarized at some point prior to the discovery of Ms. Rivera by her daughter," police said in a statement.
Police believe Rivera was killed in sometime early Saturday morning.
"Detectives have developed a composite sketch of a person of interest who was seen in the area of Ms. Rivera’s residence during the early morning hours of October 22, 2016," police said.
The person of interest is an adult male of Asian or Pacific Islander decent. He is about 30-40 years old, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, with a thin build, light to medium complexion, and very short black hair, according to police.
