CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The "traditional" Christmas tree in the lobby of the Hotel Del Coronado is creating quite a buzz among guests and around town this year.
As part of it's "A Winter of Whimsy" theme, the hotel has displayed the 21-foot tree upside down.
The Del has been known to celebrate the holidays in a grand way since 1904. Each year the staff spends months planning the overall theme for the resort. Here's how they describe this year's theme:
"This playful theme brings bright colors of pink, purple, teal and more to our décor, outdoor and Garden Patio lighting, a whimsical annual ornament and home décor line designed by Disney artist Jeff Granito.
The return of our magnificent beachfront outdoor ice rink and our spectacular 21’ lobby tree turned topsy-turvy, beautiful and bright with classic ornaments, lights and colorful presents."
While many people 10News spoke to Wednesday said they like the change, others on social media have shared that they're somewhat annoyed by and opposed to the whole thing.
