SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--California Highway Patrol confirms a woman died after exiting her vehicle and being struck by a car on southbound Interstate 15 just north of State Route 163 Thursday afternoon.

According to the CHP traffic information page, a pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle around 12:01 p.m.

CHP told 10News photojournalist Mike Howder a woman driving a yellow Jeep slowed down and either jumped or fell out of the vehicle while it was in motion.

She then got up, lied down on the freeway and was struck.
