Pedestrian hit, killed by trolley in Old Town

SAN DIEGO -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a trolley on the tracks south of Old Town Friday night.
 
The fatal crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the tracks parallel to Hancock Street, about two blocks northwest of Washington Street, according to San Diego police Officer Ben Newton.
 
The gender and age of the pedestrian were not immediately available.
 
Police were investigating why the pedestrian was on the tracks. Newton said there were no other injuries reported.
 
Trolley service between Old Town and downtown was suspended while police examined the scene. Service resumed Saturday morning.
