Padres host Marine Corps Appreciation Day, Kides Fest Sunday

The San Diego Padres will conduct U.S. Marine Corps Appreciation Day at Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds at Petco Park, part of the team's season-long Military Sunday salutes.

The pre-game ceremonies will include 100 Marines from Marine Corps Installations West, Camp Pendleton and Third Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar lining the baselines and nine drill instructors from Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, Recruit Training Regimen taking the field to greet Padres starters at each position.

Maj. Gen. Mark Wise, commanding general of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

Pfc. Senora Lyons from Headquarters 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton will perform the national anthem. "God Bless America" will be performed during the seventh-inning stretch by Katrina Pesek, wife of Marine Corps 1st Sgt. Brad Pesek, who will be by her side.

The Padres will wear their Marine digital camouflage uniforms.

The Padres will also conduct a Kids Fest at the Park beginning at 11 a.m., which will include bounce houses and other inflatables, games, face painters, balloon artists and other children-friendly activities.

Two Padres players will sign autographs from noon-12:30 p.m. at the Park at the Park. A Compadres Kids membership is required to participate. Membership is free and children can register online or in-person.
