Two California men have denied drug trafficking charges after they were allegedly found with about 6,600 prescription painkiller pills during a traffic stop in Massachusetts.
The Sun Chronicle reports 67-year-old David Villegas and his cousin, 51-year-old Armando Ruiz, pleaded not guilty to trafficking more than 200 grams of Percocet on Monday in Wrentham District Court.
Authorities say the Downey, California, men were caught with painkillers weighing about 70 pounds and more than $5,000 in cash when they were stopped by state police for a traffic violation along Interstate 495 in Wrentham last Friday.
The pills were found in two plastic bags in the trunk of their rented car.
Their defense attorney disputed the charges and says his clients are not drug dealers. They were both held on high bail.
