One man was arrested and another was still at large after a home-invasion armed robbery in Spring Valley that sent one pistol-whipped victim to a hospital, according to authorities.

The robbery happened at 5:40 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Gillespie Drive in Spring Valley and involved two armed suspects and two adult victims, according to Sgt. Thomas Seiver of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Rancho San Diego station.

During the robbery, a suspect struck one of the victims with a handgun while demanding cash. After stealing an undisclosed amount of cash from the two adult residents, the two suspects fled in a pickup truck that had been stolen in Chula Vista, Seiver said.

The truck was quickly located by deputies about a mile from the where the robbery occurred, with the suspects still in it, according to Seiver.

Juan Vizcarra, 25, ran from the truck but was caught by deputies with the help of a sheriff's department police dog. The second suspect got away despite a yard-to-yard search of the area, Seiver said.

One of the victims was treated at a local hospital and released.

Vizcarra was treated at a local hospital and booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of armed robbery, vehicle theft, assault with a firearm, participating in a criminal street gang and other crimes.
