SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was shot near a house party in the Crown Point area in what police said may have been a drug deal gone bad.

San Diego police said the gunfire erupted just after 10 p.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Edge Cliff and Riviera drives.

According to police, the victim was at a house party and then left to purchase marijuana from an unknown person down the street.

Police said the suspected seller shot the victim in the back and shoulder following some sort of dispute.

The victim made his way back to the party, where someone called 911. He was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police told 10News they believe the victim had purchased marijuana from the suspected shooter earlier in the day and was looking to buy more pot.

A description of the shooter/seller was not immediately provided.
