SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that left an innocent bystander wounded early Sunday morning outside a nightclub in San Diego’s Gaslamp District.

According to police, two groups of people were removed from the Phantom nightclub after they engaged in an altercation. The confrontation between the groups spilled outside where a gunshot rang out.
A club patron who was not involved in either confrontation was leaving the location when he heard the gunfire then realized he was struck in his right shoulder.
The victim, a 31-year-old man from Los Angeles, drove himself to Paradise Valley hospital where he was later transferred to a local trauma center for treatment. Police said his wound is non life-threatening.
“Based upon statements heard by witnesses at the scene, the SDPD Gang Unit was notified and will be conducting the investigation,” police said.
