An Oceanside man returned home at midmorning to find a burglar ransacking his house Monday, and was threatened at gunpoint before the suspect fled, according to police.

The homeowner called Oceanside police at 10:11 a.m. to report the robbery in the 4900 block of Overlook Dr., according to Officer Ryan Keim. The homeowner was not injured.

The burglar was described as being about 6-feet tall, wearing dark pants, a red shirt and a bandana and carrying a handgun. He fled on foot in an unknown direction, with an unknown amount of the victim's property, Keim said.

Keim asked anyone who may have information about the burglary to contact the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4911.
