Oceanside assault victim dies from his injuries

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - The assault of a man in Oceanside last week is now a homicide investigation after police announced the 20-year-old victim died from his injuries.

On June 30, at about 3 p.m., Emmanuel Thomas was found lying in an alley in the 300 block of South Coast Highway, Oceanside police said.

Thomas was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries several hours later. Thomas' injuries "were consistent with that of an assault," according to police.

Police said no further details would be released as the investigation is ongoing.
