(CNN) - The principal at a high school in eastern Texas was found dead Tuesday inside his pickup truck in the school parking lot in an apparent suicide.
Dennis Reeves, a principal at a high school in the town of Kirbyville, had a gunshot wound to his head and a semi-automatic pistol in his hand when he was found dead.
The truck was found still running in reverse with Reeves' foot on the brake.
About an hour earlier, Reeves had a meeting with the superintendent and resigned.
Students said Reeves was a wonderful principal and they are devastated and saddened by his death.
Police are still investigating.
