How to ship gifts for free this holiday season

Shipping gifts during the holiday season can be expensive. Sending one gift through FedEx, UPS or even USPS can cost you as much as the gift. What if you could still ship your presents, but do it for a fraction of the price?

Many of us will be shopping online through big box retailers, so why not have them wrap and ship the gift for you? All you have to when checking out is click the box that says, ‘this is a gift’ and change the shipping address to your loved one. The retailer will bill you, but ship the gift to someone else.

If you shop online through Target, you can get your item wrapped for just $5.99 and sent for free with standard shipping.

Walmart will also wrap your online purchases and ship them off for you. They charge $3.88 for most items. Plus, they have free 2 day shipping when you spend $35 or more.

Amazon is a little different. Just like Target and Walmart you’ll want to click the ‘this is a gift’ box to let them know you need the item wrapped. When it comes to pricing, it varies depending on the size and shape of the item. It can range anywhere between $3.99 and $5.99. We should note, Amazon’s gift wrapping is usually a festive cloth bag.

All three online retailers allow you to add a gift message which is a nice personal touch. Not only are you saving yourself time and money at the post office, you’re also forgoing buying wrapping paper.
