New details have emerged in the death of a 10-year-old boy who was killed while riding a water slide at a Kansas amusement park on Sunday.
Caleb Schwab was decapitated during his ride on the 168-foot-tall Verruckt water slide, police told Time on Tuesday. The Associated Press also confirmed the new detail, citing an unidentified person "who is familiar with the investigation."
The tragedy happened at Schlitterbahn in Kansas City.
Schwab's death had previously been described by police as the result of a "neck injury" suffered on the attraction.

Schwab was from Olathe, Kansas, located about 25 miles south of Kansas City. According to KSHB-TV, the local community has been rocked by the boy's death. According to family and friends, Schwab loved baseball and played for a local youth team.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. local time. Schwab's visitation is set for Thursday evening in Olathe.
