An ancient tomb of Saint Nicholas, commonly known as Santa Claus, was discovered beneath a Turkish church, according to Newsweek.
Newsweek reports that a portion fo the site believed to be home of the grave was discovered in none other than St. Nicholas Church in the Antalya province, known to be the saint's birthplace.
“We believe this shrine has not been damaged at all, but it is quite difficult to get to it as there are mosaics on the floor,” Cemil Karabayram told Hurriyet Daily News, according to Newsweek. She is the head of Antalya's Monument Authority.
He said he is optimistic about uncovering the possible remains of St. Nicholas, and said researchers from eight different fields were involved in the archaeological process, according to Newsweek.
