Alec Baldwin lampoons Trump's response to Maria to start season 43 of SNL

Posted

Alec Baldwin, whose portrayal of Donald Trump helped Saturday Night Live's resurgence in season 42, was back on Saturday night depicting the President to launch the show's season 43.

Baldwin, 59, had said that his portrayal of Trump would only last for one season. But on Saturday, Baldwin was back in the fake oval office, sparring with Aidy Bryant's portrayal of press secretary Sarah Sanders.

Like past sketches featuring Baldwin's Trump, the skit contained current events such as Trump's quarreling with San Juan, Puerto Rico's mayor, the resignation of Tom Price and Trump's alliance with Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer to pass a DACA replacement.

Season 43 of SNL also will mark the first full season the show will air live across all four timezones in the continental United States. Viewers on the west coast are able to watch live versions of Saturday Night Live at 8:30 p.m., and a replay at its standard 11:30 p.m. time slot.

SNL aired the final four seasons of season 42 live across the United States, and saw a small ratings bump.
