CARLSBAD -- A multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad sent at least two people to a hospital and snarled traffic ahead of the Friday morning commute.
Up to six vehicles were involved in the crash in the southbound lanes shortly before 5 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The wrecked vehicles were initially blocking three lanes, which prompted authorities to issue a SigAlert.
Two ambulances were sent to take some of the vehicle occupants involved in the crash to a hospital to be treated, a North County fire dispatcher said.
The crashed vehicles were later towed away and the roadway was reported cleared shortly after 6 a.m., according to the CHP.
