ESCONDIDO (KGTV) -- A motorist plowed through the yard of an Escondido home early Wednesday morning after someone sprayed bullets into his car. Escondido Police say the male victim was shot in the head, then crashed his car into the front yard of a home around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Before he crashed, police said his car side swiped another vehicle on 15th Avenue. Police received several calls of gunshots heard in the area of 15th Avenue and South Maple Street, but they say none of the callers saw a shooter. They arrived to the area of West 15th Avenue and Broadway Place about a minute after getting reports of the shooting. There they found a Hispanic man shot in the face in the wrecked car that was riddled with bullet holes. He was conscious when medics arrived and taken to the hospital where he went through surgery and is listed as stable. Police found shell casings on both ends of West 15th Avenue. The search for a suspect or suspects is underway.
