Motorcyclist leads officers on 100MPH pursuit through South Bay

OTAY MESA WEST (KGTV) -- Things are a lot calmer in Otay Mesa West following a chaotic, overnight police pursuit that spanned several South Bay neighborhoods.

The chase started on Interstate 5 in National City when California Highway Patrol officers tried to stop a motorcyclist for speeding.

A helicopter joined the pursuit and tracked the motorcyclist as the driver zipped through residential areas trying to lose the officers.

The man ditched the motorcyclist ditched the motorcycle in front of a residence on Enero Court in Otay Mesa West then darted up a hillside and ran into a home on Piccard Avenue.

Officers surrounded the residence for about 45 minutes before entering the home and bringing out an entire family, including a small girl.  Some of the family members were detained but later released.

One person was questioned and arrested but police could not confirm if it was the motorcyclist.
