The Chargers play the Vikings in a preseason game in Minnesota on Sunday.
Erby sustained a critical head injury after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Pacific Beach in early August.
His family told 10News he has woken up but is still being closely monitored in the hospital.

Police have not found who was responsible for hitting Erby and two other men on August 5, but are searching for persons of interest seen in a surveillance video around the time of the incident.
