(KGTV) - Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee was roasted Friday over a Cinco de Mayo tweet that has gone viral and ignited outrage.
Huckabee took to Twitter Friday to deliver a "happy Cinco de Mayo" message to followers, but the message did not inspire a celebration.
The tweet has been retweeted nearly 3,000 times and commented on more than 5,000 times as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.
"For Cinco de Mayo, I will drink an entire jar of hot salsa and watch old Speedy Gonzales cartoons and speak Spanish all day. Happy CdMayo!" Huckabee tweeted.

As Sarah Huckabee Sanders very capably handles her first WH briefing & mentions Cinco de Mayo — a message from her father this morning: https://t.co/2tu1ZK4QJK

10News reached out to Huckabee's office regarding the tweet but did not hear back.
The tweet has drawn comparisons with President Donald Trump's Cinco de Mayo tweet in 2015, in which the President took a photo with a taco bowl made by chefs at Trump Tower in New York City.
