SAN DIEGO - A 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were slashed with a box cutter during an altercation at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach late Wednesday night.

According to San Diego police, a group of two men and two women had been drinking alcohol earlier in the day, and went to the beach at 5150 Voltaire St. together about 11 p.m.

For reasons not yet known, one of the men began to fight with the other man, police said.

The suspected attacker took out a box cutter and tried to slash the second man across the stomach. However, police said the victim blocked the box cutter, but the blade slashed his left hand.

The women returned from a walk, and one of them was slashed in the wrist when she tried to break up the fight.

The suspected attacker and the second woman got into a truck and left the beach.

Officers said the suspected attacker is a white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 25 years old, and has long hair. He was wearing shorts but no shirt. His vehicle is a two-door red 2013 Nissan truck.

Neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
