Grossmont High School officials are warning parents and students after a man tried to lure a female student into his vehicle near the campus.
Officials said the incident happened Tuesday at about 3:30 p.m. as the girl waited for her ride near the school's baseball field on Milden Avenue.
A man driving a maroon, single-cab truck approached the girl and tried to get her to come to his truck by offering a cigarette. He then told her to get in his vehicle, but she refused.
The man then drove away on Water Street.
The driver was described as Hispanic, 30-40 years old, with a dark complexion. He has brown hair, brown eyes, a round face and a large mole on his right cheek.
The older model truck, possibly a Ford F-150, has chipped paint.
Anyone who has seen the man or notices suspicious behavior near the school is urged to contact authorities.
